| Carrollton, TX, April 1, 2004
-- A private investor group led by Jackson, MS based
Votum Capital LLC has purchased Resource Concepts,
Inc. from company founder Ray Chapman for an
undisclosed price.
The new owners will rename the company, Recycled
Computers International, LLC (RCI), according
to new board chairman Chip Slack, a principal
of Votum Capital. Also participating in the purchase
is a private investment fund of Clayton &
Associates, of Franklin, TN.
Founded in 1987, Resource Concepts, Inc. was
one of the pioneers of the electronic industry
and led the industry in the development of methods
for extracting usable materials from electronics
trash. The company holds eight patents for its
End-of-Life product recycling processes.
Housed in a state-of-the-art, 193,000 sq ft facility
in Carrollton, TX, near Dallas, RCI provides one-stop
recycling services for obsolete and used remarketable
computer equipment. RCIs services address
the critical triangle of computer recycling and
remarketing: Investment Recovery; Data Destruction
and E-Waste Recycling with Environmental Liability
Protection. It is one of the few companies
in the industry that offers all three services
at one site.
"RCI is well positioned to become an international
leader in the technology recycling industry. We
plan to recruit a world-class management team,
upgrade internal systems and processes, expand
services and grow through acquisitions and aggressive
business development," said Mr. Slack.
RCI provides value recovery and recycling services
for major computer manufacturers such as Dell,
Hewlett Packard, and Gateway, and to businesses
such as banks, professional service firms, hospitals
and manufacturing companies.
It sells refurbished and almost-new computers,
peripherals and spare parts through its retail
division, Outlet Computer Store and www.outletcomputer.com,
and through a widespread network of dealers and
distributors in the USA and in foreign markets.
In fact, 70 per cent of the products handled by
RCI are remarketed. RCI itself runs on refurbished
computer equipment.
No RCI products are shipped to foreign markets
unless they are in good working condition, have
resale value and the foreign brokers and dealers
meet RCIs tough standards for remarketing.
Proceeds from the sale of refurbished equipment
are shared with the original owners or manufacturers.
